Luby’s, Texas’ original cafeteria, has undergone changes to create a more contemporary atmosphere for its diners. As part of the company’s vision to continue in this vein, Luby’s contacted Jay H Fixtures to do a small remodel at one of its most successful locations in North Texas.
The dining area was initially carpeted, open and had booth seating lining the walls. Additional booth seating ran through the middle of the dining room and the rest of the seating consisted of regular tables. Luby’s wanted to build new half walls in the center of the dining space, eliminating the booth seating in the middle of the dining area. Booths then would line the new half walls. They wanted carpet to be replaced with all tile, except within the half walls. New carpet was to be laid there. New track lighting would be installed in the dining area. The entry, serving line, dining area, and restroom entry were all to receive a new coat of paint. The challenge was to complete the project in phases, so the restaurant didn’t experience any disruption in their operations.

For three weeks, the Jay H crew and our sub-contractors worked nights to complete this remodel. All work had to be done in carefully planned phases, so that Luby’s could remain open throughout the project. The project was a success and resulted in a clean, contemporary look in line with Luby’s brand.
